Getting Started
To get started you will have to follow a few steps.
1. Accounts & Collaboration
To get started you will be first designing using your own Figma account.
(If you don't have a Figma account already, you can just create a free one. It has almost all the necessary features to get you started)
We will provide you with a 'Get Started' Figma file containing the following:
Urapolku Design System pre-added to the file
Examples of existing screens to help you understand our design language better.
A default set up on how to arrange your design and components.
Attached below is Design Template for new designers.
To use this file make a duplicate of it into your personal Figma account drafts.
Once added to your account use this as a template for your work.
Later on you will be able join our 'Urapolku Designer' Figma account, to collaborate with ease follow the followings steps:
Log in to 'Urapolku Designer' account (Credentials of which will be provided to you)
Under Teams you'll find the 'Urapolku' team. This team has designated folder (Project) for each designer with their name.
On top right corner you'll find the button '+ Project' to add a new project, click that and create a new project with title being your own 'Name'.
Once you have your own folder, inside it on top right you'll find options to create 'Figma Design' or 'Figma Jam' file.
Any new design file you want to create will be created inside this folder.
2. Naming your Figma File
All files will follow the naming format:
Figma Design Files - Screen Name (Your Name)
Figma Jam Files - Topic (Your Name)
For ex. A home page file designed by a designer named Jane can be named - Home Page (Jane)
3. Set up your Figma file
For clear communication and collaboration on Figma make sure all design files have the following things:
PAGES:
'Final Design' Page: Make a separate page containing the final design screens for all three devices, these should be updates before each discussion so it's clear which one is the latest iteration.
'Work In Progress' Page: This page could be the main workstation.
'Archive Design' Page: This page will contain all the old iterations which we are not going ahead with but could be useful for reference.
COMPONENTS:
If you create any new components make a separate section in your 'Work In Progress' page having all components and variants.
Attached below is a Design File Template which can be either be used as reference when creating a new design file or you can follow the steps below to use it directly:
Make a duplicate of it.
Move this file into the YOUR project folder.
Once added to your folder, rename it.
You can start working now!
4. Design Guidelines
To maintain consistency in our design and avoid confusion we request all designers to follow the design guidelines:
Urapolku Design System: We have set up our own design system for the ease of working and maintain the same design language.
Breakpoints: All screens are designed to be Responsive, following a specific set of breakpoints.
